Production Supervisor – Night Shift\nBirmingham, B18 5AY | £34,000 per annum, DOE\nOur client is a well-established and award-winning UK food manufacturer with over 30 years of heritage, specialising in high-quality frozen food products distributed nationwide. Known for combining traditional recipes with modern production techniques, they're now looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to join their Birmingham site on a permanent, full-time night shift basis.\nAbout the Role\nAs Production Supervisor, you'll oversee production and dispatch operations from start to finish on the night shift, leading a team of Team Leaders and operatives to deliver high-quality product safely, efficiently, and on time. You'll play a key role in maintaining hygiene, compliance, and BRC audit standards, while driving continuous improvement across the site.\nKey Responsibilities\nTeam Management\n * Motivate and direct Team Leaders to produce, pack, and maintain quality-based product\n * Supervise all aspects of Team Leaders' work and allocate resources as needed\n * Manage production and dispatch operations across the full product lifecycle\n * Plan staff cover to ensure sufficient resource in all areas at all times\n * Step in on operational duties to meet deadlines or cover staff absence\n * Build effective working relationships across your team, management, and other departments\nCompliance & Quality\n * Manage site hygiene functions and ensure cleaning schedules are followed\n * Monitor and maintain finished product quality\n * Implement and monitor policies and procedures for BRC audit compliance\n * Work with the Production and Technical Managers on production and technical matters\n * Handle employee conduct issues at the initial stage\n * Review training needs and effectiveness\n * Ensure Health & Safety policies are adhered to via regular checks\nOperational Efficiency\n * Ensure correct equipment usage and safety equipment across all areas (filling, baking, packing, etc.)\n * Maintain stock of materials and appropriate storage\n * Liaise with other departments to resolve issues\n * Ensure all production paperwork is completed and recorded accurately\n * Identify hazards and evaluate workplace risks\nPerformance & Quality Control\n * Check product specification accuracy and material/print quality through to final check and despatch\n * Review and recommend improvements for smooth departmental running\n * Work with Senior Management to review team and individual performance\n * Carry out and verify Quality Control procedure sheets, accurately recording waste and downtime\nWhat We're Looking For\nPrevious experience as a Production Supervisor in food or manufacturing\nFood Science-related degree, or 3+ years' supervisory experience\nHACCP Level 3 qualification\nMechanically minded, with experience working with machinery\nPrevious experience in a team management position\nStrong leadership and staff management skills\nExperience working in a food manufacturing environment\nComfortable working under own initiative in a busy environment\nGood computer literacy (Word, Excel, Access, Sage 50)\nDesirable\nExperience managing a bakery/pastry facility\nKnowledge of BRC internal audits, GMPs, and KPIs\nExperience driving quality and continuous improvement\nWhat's on Offer\nSalary: £34,000 per annum, DOE\nContract: Full-time, permanent\nHours: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, night shift (9.30pm–5.30am)\n24 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays\nPension scheme contributions\nStaff discounts on the company's food range\nStaff Tester Card – exclusive discounts on food, clothing, cinema tickets, and retailers including TK Maxx and McDonald's\nFree on-site parking and EV charging\nLearning, development, and career progression opportunities\nA supportive, inclusive culture within a passionate, innovative team
